Meg's Book - Chapter 20 - An Everlasting Chain
Trivia - The poem in this chapter was written by Eliza in her journal on 18 September. Todd Compton presumes this poem is in honor of Elvira's engagement to Jonathan. From the imagery in the poem and the "mutual vows" language, I think my interpretation is also valid.

The leap of time comes as a surprise. Perhaps including a domestic detail such as: Elvira took Sarah's hand and helped her up into the chair. The child was now a rosy cheeked five-year old, far different from the sad little child who had come to live with the Smiths two years before after the attack on her family's cabin.
Chapter 12 read very well.
